Industrial Sewing Machinists – Full time, permanent. Urgently needed

DMM is looking to employ several Sewing Machinists to work within a successful, existing team of staff on a full-time, permanent basis at our factory, located in Llanberis.

CNC Operator, nightshift 10pm to 6am

Produces machined parts by operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machines; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.

Key Tasks

  • Operate Vertical and Horizontal CNC machines, including CNC Palletech loader.
  • To use precision instruments (i.e., micrometres, Vernier Callipers and a range of gauges, i.e. slips, plug and thread gauges.
  • Complete all documentation on time.
  • To carry out basic Maintenance and Housekeeping duties.
  • To carry out inspection checks on produced batches (i.e. check operators work).

Candidates must be

  • Methodical and meticulous in approach.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Practical problem solving.
  • An effective communicator and a good team player.
  • Conscientious and has a self-disciplined approach.
  • Motivated and flexible in their approach.
  • Excellent time management and multi- tasking skills.
  • Capable of producing high quality written material by hand and using computers.
  • Computer literate.
  • Engineering related qualifications (desirable but not essential).

Training and Development

On the job training from the Line Manager, covering company products, procedures, correct use of Machinery and Health and Safety.

Hours

37.5 hrs. per week, Sunday 10pm to Friday 6am, starting rate living wage plus night shift pay.

  • Hot Forging Operator (2-10pm)
  • Hot Forging Operator (10pm-6am)

In this role, you will be removing hot metal parts from a furnace and feeding them to a large forging press.

Key Tasks

  • Confer with other workers about machine setups and operational specifications.
  • Operate gas/electric furnaces to heat metal to proper temperature prior to forging.
  • Place metal pieces in furnaces, then remove them.
  • Measure and inspect forged parts to ensure conformance to product specifications.
  • Position and move metal wire through a series of dies that compress and shape stock to form die impressions.
  • Read work orders or blueprints to determine specified tolerances and sequences of operations for machine setup.

Job Requirements/skills

  • Factory experience – 1 year.
  • NVQ -level 2 manufacturing related.
  • Be able to read production paperwork in order to understand each job's printed work instructions.
  • Demonstrate solid basic math skills and be able to read a ruler and vernier.
  • Must be able to bend, twist, stoop and also lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Manual Dexterity – have good hand and eye co-ordination.
  • Must be able to tolerate hot work environment.

Hours

37.5 hrs per week, Monday to Friday.

Minimum wage or living wage during 3 month probation period - on completion of a successful probation period, wage will increase to forging rate.

Logistics Administrator

The Role

Working within the operations team, the logistics administrator will deal with the day-to-day shipping processes and queries as we use various transport options to ship our goods to our global customers in the UK, Europe, North America, and Rest of World.

Key tasks

  • Assisting the DMM team and our global customers with shipping and logistics queries.
  • Tracking and tracing shipments via the various carrier portals.
  • Investigating and resolving shipping challenges such as delayed, missing, or damaged consignments.
  • Supporting the warehouse dispatch team with outbound shipping arrangements.
  • Import and Export administration.
  • Processing overseas shipments using online booking systems and matching up invoices with relevant proof of deliveries.
  • Filing and archiving documents.
  • Any other admin duties as required.

Essential to your success in the role will be the ability to demonstrate

  • 2 years’ experience in an office admin role.
  • Topflight customer service standards.
  • Organised, accurate and efficient working practises.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with a high level of interpersonal skills.
  • Aptitude to follow processes and procedures accurately.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritise and meet customer deadlines.
  • Good computer literacy including MS Office and competent numerical skills.
  • Self- motivation, attention to detail, and the ability to work as part of a busy team.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in logistics administration duties.
  • Experience working with carriers and couriers.
  • Knowledge of export and import procedures.
