Process Specialist - Textile

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking to advance their career in manufacturing. We are looking for a highly motivated Process Specialist to join and support our passionate team in Llanberis. You will be a team player within a small but busy department and will report to the Textile Design Manager. A proactive attitude, strong organisational skills and the ability to solve problems independently are essential for this role.

The Role

To assist the textile design team with the development of new and existing DMM production processes and capturing these processes for quality control through the generation of production support documentation, production routes and other means.

Tasks

  • The use of DMM's ERP software to:
    • Capture the production steps for upcoming or existing products
    • Raise codes for new components and/or materials, working with DMM purchasing
    • Monitor the delivery schedule for ongoing sample materials
    • Support production when required to reflect production changes originating from Design
  • Production of specification drawings for DMM Textile products both upcoming and retrospectively
  • Make suggestions to streamline the logistical transition from development to production
  • Support Quality in the investigation of production problems & aid the implementation of solutions
  • Aid Design in understanding production timings, efficiencies and bottlenecks
  • Analysis of production costs including materials, labour and equipment

Essential Requirements

  • A year's relevant industry experience or equivalent education
  • A keen interest in logistics systems & production organisation
  • Digitally skilled & very comfortable navigating various softwares
  • Capable of individual work & taking the initiative when suitable
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills

Desirable Attributes

  • An active interest in climbing, mountaineering, tree-care or work at height
  • Software skills – Solidworks, Adobe suite, manufacturing logistics software

Hours

37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Holiday

20 days (+8 fixed bank holidays)

£25,000 pro rata

Junior Product Developer - Textile

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking to advance their career in textile engineering and design. We are looking for a highly motivated Junior Product Developer to join and support our passionate Textiles Design Team in Llanberis. You will be a team player within a small but busy department and will report to the Textile Design Manager. A proactive attitude, an eye for detail and the ability to solve problems independently are essential for this role.

The Role

To assist the Textile Design Team with the development of new and existing DMM products, with a focus on textile manufacturing processes to ensure their successful integration into production.

Tasks include:

  • The development and/or improvement of sewn and bonded textile concepts and constructions
  • Service and maintain production sewing machines
  • Design jigs and fixtures used for testing, prototyping and production
  • Design, prove and implement new production processes
  • Solve manufacturing issues and implement solutions
  • Research and present findings of market research and manufacturing solutions
  • Read, understand and carry out testing to EN/ISO standards
  • Conduct a wide range of bespoke laboratory testing
  • Field test concepts and prototypes
  • Write detailed test reports, proofread technical literature and work to the product design process as

    part of our quality assurance procedure

  • Operate 3D printers, laser cutters and various sewing machines (CNC & non)
  • Something to do with sourcing and supplier relationships
  • Any other duties required

Essential Requirements

  • A keen interest in and a basic understanding of sewing
  • Skilled in a digitally driven design process (for example, Solidworks for 3D modelling)
  • Creative individual to work on their own without guidance, or as part of a small team
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills

Desirable Attributes

  • A degree in engineering or industrial design, or a strong background in this field
  • A year's relevant industry experience
  • Software skills –Adobe suite, Patterning software (CLO 3D, Gerber, etc.), Solidworks
  • The ability to confidently use & maintain a basic flat-bed sewing machine
  • An understanding of our primary textile production processes, which include: CNC sewing, bar-

    tacking, webbing construction & sourcing, bonding, laser-cutting, etc.

  • An active interest in climbing, mountaineering, tree-care or work at height

37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
