Locking gate types

Screwgate

Manual locking gate requiring screwing/unscrewing of the barrel to lock/unlock.

Kwiklock

Auto-locking gate requiring two distinct actions to open.

Locksafe

Auto-locking gate requiring three distinct actions to open.

Durolock

Auto-locking gate requiring four distinct operations to open. Force must be maintained throughout or the gate returns to safe (locked).

Kwiklock ANSI

Same gate action as Kwiklock but the connector is also required to exceed 16kN in minor axis, side load and gate face tests.

Locksafe ANSI

Same gate action as Locksafe but the connector is also required to exceed 16kN in minor axis, side load and gate face tests.

Perfect masterpoint, belay carabiner

Now my go-to large carabiner. Makes my boa's seem a little excessive. Perfect for building a belay and using with an Italian hitch. Fits 3 clove hitches with an 8mm rope, 2 with a 10mm rope easily, whilst still being lightweight for it's size and easy to use.

Incredible workhorse carabiner

The Shadow-HMS carabiner is just a staple bit of kit to have on your rack. Durable, long lasting and can take the abuse. A good sized basket, smooth nose and buttery smooth screwgate just make these a pleasure to use. I'm due a re-order in the near future and I wouldn't be without a few of these on my harness!

My preferred HMS

Large enough basket to accommodate a few clove hitches when building trad anchors and more lightweight and i think aesthetically pleasing than the BOA although that is really useful if using very thick ropes.
Perfectly designed and very well made.

The ultimate HMS

The ultimate in anchor building, rigging, gear storing and of course, munther hitching. Its a no brainer why you wouldn't have such a well made & robust biner to add to your arsenal
