Shadow Locking

£16.99

Versatile Offset D carabiner.

The Shadow strikes an ideal balance between low weight and useability. Weighing just 50 grams thanks to I-Beam construction, you can carry several Shadows before the weight starts to tell. Despite low weight, it is big enough to use in winter with gloves on. A locking carabiner for all situations.

FEATURES

Personal Locking Carabiner for versatility and low weight

Personal lockers are used where weight and size are as important as strength, such as on sling runners and for most connection points on belay stances. In a standard 2 person climbing team, most of your locking carabiners will be personal lockers.

Offset D carabiner for optimal loading and ergonomics

D-Shaped carabiners encourage loading in their strongest orientation by forcing loads toward the carabiner spine. An Offset D refines this basic design by extending the top bar, increasing internal volume. This improves handling and compatibility with thick ropes and slings.

Keylock nose eliminates snagging

This carabiner's nose slots into a groove in the gate, allowing it to achieve full strength without a gate notch. This creates a clean internal profile that won't catch on gear, bolts or slings, giving easier clipping and removal from systems.

I-Beam construction for optimum strength to weight ratio

I-Beam construction techniques allow carabiners to be lighter without compromising strength. This is achieved through hot forging, a process which allows metal to be made into complex shapes that improve functionality.

Locking gate types

Screwgate

Manual locking gate requiring screwing/unscrewing of the barrel to lock/unlock.

Kwiklock

Auto-locking gate requiring two distinct actions to open.

Locksafe

Auto-locking gate requiring three distinct actions to open.

Durolock

Auto-locking gate requiring four distinct operations to open. Force must be maintained throughout or the gate returns to safe (locked).

Kwiklock ANSI

Same gate action as Kwiklock but the connector is also required to exceed 16kN in minor axis, side load and gate face tests.

Locksafe ANSI

Same gate action as Locksafe but the connector is also required to exceed 16kN in minor axis, side load and gate face tests.

Great rigging, winter biner

Ocasionally when working you want a easy biner to operate when your hands are colder. Phantom are my summer trad biners, shadow does everything else; cave, mine, sea level traversing and winter climbing biners. Easy to operate with gloves or when your hands are cold, can fit 2 clove hitches at a push with a thin rope, really nice for one. Personally i prefer the inglesport biners without the I-Beam technology as they seem like they can take more of a beating, but I-beam definitely makes them lighter.

Incredible biners

I love the Shadow locking carabiners. My go to for belay anchor building, every time. The smooth nose makes them easy to use, my screwgate versions have never let me down with a nice, smooth thread with a positive pinch at the end. Lightweight too! Great kit.

Best binars

Best binars I have ever used, bought many for many different applications.

Versatile and solid

I have several of these on my rack in screw gate version, plus a locksafe version for my gri gri. For me they're a perfect compromise between weight and functionality, being that bit bigger than the phantom.
