Manual locking gate requiring screwing/unscrewing of the barrel to lock/unlock.

Kwiklock

Auto-locking gate requiring two distinct actions to open.

Locksafe

Auto-locking gate requiring three distinct actions to open.

Durolock

Auto-locking gate requiring four distinct operations to open. Force must be maintained throughout or the gate returns to safe (locked).

Kwiklock ANSI

Same gate action as Kwiklock but the connector is also required to exceed 16kN in minor axis, side load and gate face tests.

Good multiuse wide basket carabiner

I've used both the screwgate and triple action (Locksafe) versions, and swear by both for a range of uses for different types of climbing. I use the Locksafe as a focal point for multipitch anchors while guiding, and it's wide enough to accommodate clove hitch carabiners for myself and two clients along with a belay device. The screwgate is my go-to belay device carabiner. And both hit the sweet spot of being light enough to take into the alpine, but still large enough to use with gloves on!

Excellent option for a lightweight HMS

My partner and I swear by these HMS carabiners and the Phantom d-lockers, they're a great lightweight option. They really come into their own multipitching and in the alpine. While they're on the smaller size for a pear-shaped carabiner, they handle well and work great as master points, for belaying, abseiling / rappelling, etc.

Great size, weight and handling.

These lockers have rapidly become my favourites. They're compact, lightweight and the gate and screw mechanism is slick.

Even though they're pretty small, they can still fit a few clovehitch on them. When I reach for a screwgate I usually reach for this!
