Dragonfly Cams

£76.99

Tried & tested.

Dragonfly Micro Cams provide versatile protection for narrow cracks and pockets. The size 1 Dragonfly is our smallest certified climbing cam. The six cams in the range cover placements from 7.8mm – 28.3mm.

The same camming angle of 13.75°, as used with our Dragons, provides the optimum balance of holding power and range. You will appreciate the holding power of the TripleGrip lobes with their ‘raw alu’ surface, particularly on smooth rock types such as slate and limestone. The narrow head width and compact trigger allow the cams to be placed deep in small pockets.

We have also introduced the Dragonfly Offsets to the celebrated Dragonfly Cam range, which alongside the Dragon Cams create the ultimate cam family.

Waited a long time to add to my rack

Always struggled to see how I would use micro cams vs smaller passive protection, but really happy with them in use find myself placing in situations where nothing else would work.

Couldn't imagine not having these now!

Sometimes I've placed these as a psychological piece when I couldn't find anything else. However, other times when you find the right placement, they feel solid. Didn't think I would like to fall on one, but I have, and it held!

Very good micro cams

The Dragonflies are amongst my favourite micro cams, performing strongly against the competition. I used them almost daily during the past summer in Squamish and found them pretty delightful. The narrow heads can be very helpful, they're flexible (I know some find them a little too flexible), decently durable, and I always love an extendable sling. I also find the rougher surface of the lobes reassuring vs. the disconcertingly smooth lobes of some other micro cams... When doubling up, I like that the larger sized dragonflies, 4, 5 and 6, come up a little smaller than the DMM, BD or WC 0.3, 0.4 and 0.5 cams, making them useful "in-between" sizes that give your rack more range.

Best small cams?

Thumb loops are really nice. Even the tiny yellow holds extemely large falls. Very pleasant to use. One should always keep in mind though that the purple Dragonfly is significantly smaller than a purple dual-axle cam.

Reassuring

These are reassuring compared to some of their competitors that have a flimsier build quality
